I gave myself a Haiku challenge, which was to write a Haiku about winter without using the words winter, snow or cold.

Blank carpet of white
Frigid, arctic temperatures
Day turns into night.

We walked down the aisle

Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary 😀 and I decided to write this poem in honor of my husband and our marriage.

We walked down the aisle
Years ago

That gray morning
Hearts skipped a beat
As we looked into the pools
That were each others’ eyes

“Lawful wedded wife”
“I do”
“For better, for worse”
“In sickness and in health”
“Let not man put asunder”

These words once said
Still true today
Veracity and meaning
Unchanged over the years

Battles fought and won
Babies born and grown
People come and gone
Life marching on

We walked down the aisle
Years ago

A Happy New Year
Is my wish to one and all
Expecting great things

Christmas comes but once a year,
We get together and have good cheer;
We sit around the table and dine,
Let’s not forget that bottle of wine!

Christmas hits us with a bang!
We shop for ornaments to hang,
Upon our Christmas trees and walls;
We invite all our friends to the ball.

Roast turkey, shrimp scampi,lemon meringue pie,
A sumptuous banquet hits your eye;
You lick your lips and stifle a sigh,
And wish it was all for “me, myself and I”.

But please remember this Christmas day,
Jesus who came to show the right way;
To helpless sinners here on earth,
Through a wondrous virgin birth.

Christmas is not just a time for feasting,
Christmas is not only a time for dining
Christmas is mainly a time for celebrating
That great day Jesus came for the earthlings.

God sent His Son
To earth to us
To live for us
To die for us
To give us hope
Of eternal life
In heaven with Him
At the end of time.

He Cares

When life’s storms threaten to overwhelm you,
And you feel vulnerable and exposed;
When all your courage seems to fail you,
God’s eyes are not closed.

When you are confused with no one to turn to,
Remember that God is still there;
Just pray and put your trust in Him,
He will keep you in His care.

Purposeful living
Foot prints on the sands of time
A heart true to God

Our Home
We live, we care, we breathe, we play
We cry, we laugh, we fight, we dance
We eat, we pray, we think, we speak
We clean, we sleep, we wake, we see
We read, we know, we hug, we kiss
We help, we stay, we give, we thank
We rest, we talk, we share, we do
We build, we change, we love,we are:
In our home.
